Frequently asked questions

How is the time to goal calculated?+
The calculator simulates each month: balance grows by the monthly interest rate, then the monthly contribution is added. It repeats until the balance reaches the target.
What if I don't earn any interest?+
Set the interest rate to 0. The calculator will then simply divide the remaining amount by your monthly contributio... [truncated]
What happens if my monthly contribution is zero and I start below the target?+
With no monthly contribution, the balance only grows by interest. If the starting balance is below the target, the timeline may stretch far into the future — that is why the caution message appears.
Does this include taxes on interest?+
No. The result assumes the full interest is kept and the rate stays constant. In reality interest may be taxed and rates may change, so treat it as an estimate.
